
Google maps are looking for the Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
The Maoists killed three civilians in the inner village in the Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday (June 17, 2025), the police said.
In a statement issued by the police, the police said the incident occurred in the village of Peddakorm (Nayapa) and it was to create a fear of people’s minds.
“There were information that three inhabitants of the village of Peddakorm (Nayapa) in the village of Bijapur were strangled by the Maoists … to create an atmosphere of fear and terror between villagers. The police conduct an investigation to confirm that the information received.”
Increase in operations
According to data issued by the police, between 1 September 2023 and 20. May this year, 87 civilians were killed in Maoist violence. In most of these cases, the murdered individual was accused of being a police informant. Since December 2023, there has been an increase in anti-naxal safety forces operations in the Bastar area, which has seven districts, including Bijapur.
At a press conference in the capital of Raipur last week, the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that 425 Maoists (at least two others have been killed since then) in the state in the last and half years. He said that 1,388 Maoists gave up and 1,443 was arrested in the same period.
