Minister of the Union and Thrissur MP Suesh Gopi on Sunday (August 17, 2025) stated that it was the Election Commission of India (ECI), not he, who must respond to the accusation of the voters’ list in the Elections of Lok Sabha in Thrissur 2024.
When he spoke to the media after Garlanding the statue of Sacthan Thampuran in Thrissur, the Minister responded for the first time to a raging controversy.

“He is the main election commissioner who should answer your doubts. Why didn’t I answer? Because it’s not my responsibility. I am a minister and I have fulfilled my duties. Those who have to answer. If you have more questions, ask – or wait for the matter to get before the Supreme Court.”
In a sharp note focused on his critics, he added: “Several monkeys have jumped up the accusation. Go and ask it instead.”
About Garlanding the statue Sacthan Thampuran Mr. Gopi said, “I heard why my heart is talking. I did what I felt right. Thrissur must regain the strength of Sacthan.”
After the accusation, there was a discussion that Mr. Gopi and his family moved their voices to Thrissur using a false affidavit prior to Public opinion surveys Lok Sabha. The Commissioner of the Municipal Police has already ordered an investigation. The documents also emerged, showing that the Minister’s brother held the voices in Thrissur and Kollam and intensified the series.
