The ever-increasing thirst for road connectivity in the western part of the city has yet again claimed dozens of trees, this time on the Manikonda-Hitech City stretch. Several trees were felled on the section for the construction of the overpass and underpass as a solution to traffic congestion.
The incident came to light after netizens expressed dismay and posted video clips and photos of the green carnage. Several users on social media platform X complained that with temperatures already rising, cutting down trees will make the heat worse. “It’s summer and the temperature in our city is touching 40-45 degrees C and someone is cutting trees. Please investigate,” urged user Bhushan, who tagged Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Srijana Gummalla.
