Online personalities who once helped gather young men’s voters behind Donald Trump are now beginning to retreat from the President they once fought.
Maga’s influences now distance themselves from Trump
Nine months after the new term of office of his administration prominent figures in the manosphere-a volume network of podcasters, comedians and streamers-regret regret and frustration with government hard agenda and its use of their platforms for political gain.
Among them is Adin Ross, a controversial streamer, who had disintegrated in an interview in Mar-A-Lago in 2024 during an interview in Mar-A-Lago in August 2024. Both men exchanged compliments, ridiculed the main press, and Ross even introduced Trump’s rich gifts-including his own Cybertruck and Rolex watches. Today, however, Ross says he had enough politicians.
“I really really want me to never get into politics,” Ross told my viewers recently. “I just don’t think I’m going to be interested in another politician again.”
He is not alone. Podcasters, such as Theo Von, Joe Rogan and Andrew Schultz, who gave Trump’s friendly, uncritical platforms during the campaign – now distance themselves from their leadership and rhetoric.
Von, who once visited Trump’s inauguration, expressed anger after the Ministry of Internal Security used a clip from his podcast in a government video supporting deportation.
“My father emigrated here from Nicaragua. One of my valuable property is his immigration papers … It was just fucked,” Von said.
In the post, which was later deleted, DHS said to remove the video and “send a check”.
The turning point came for many when promoting immigration of management grew more aggressive. Joe Rogan publicly criticized the mass deportation of Venezuelan migrants into a notorious prison of Cecot Salvador, where many of them are allegedly held without a proper process.
“The reason is that let’s get members of the gang, everyone agrees,” Rogan said. “But we won’t leave innocent gay hairdressers to concentrate with the gangs.”
When the White House doubled to its procedure, very influencers who once intensified Trump’s voice, now question their role in shaping its return to power – and whether the movement they helped build went too far.
