
Manolo Marquez was released as an Indian coach after a disastrous run of results after Igor Stimac was taken over. Marquez was appointed coach of the male team in June 2024 and supervised eight games responsible for Blue Tigers. During this time, India won only one match, which was a 3-0 friendly victory over the Maldives in a friendly March.
The decision comes weeks after humiliating the Indian loss of 1-0 for Hong Kong China in their Assian Asian Cup Qualifiers AFC 1027 10 June. M. Satyanarayanan, the reigning Secretary General, said that after the discussions he agreed that AIFF and Marquez agreed that he should not continue as a coach.
“He did not mention. After the discussions, it was agreed that AIFF and Manolo Marquez could not continue as an India coach (Men). He was released in accordance with it,” said M. Satyanarayan, reigning Secretary General AIFF.
