The Telangana Congress refuted Union Minister G Kishan Reddy’s claims regarding the Singareni elections, particularly on the issue of the mandatory site visit clause, calling it a national norm of the election process and not a Telangana-specific rule.
TPCC media and communications committee chairperson Sama Rammohan Reddy said at a press conference on Thursday that Coal India, which operates under the Union government, had made site visits mandatory in coal tenders as early as 2018 and all states are required to follow the guidelines.
He said that the concerned Union minister was not aware of such a basic political matter and alleged that several public sector undertakings, including Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited, were pushing for mandatory site visits for tenders. He claimed that documentary evidence was available and dared Mr. Reddy to verify the facts.
He said the Singareni tenders strictly follow the central planning and design guidelines under Coal India and the site visit clause has been rigorously implemented in all tenders floated since 2018. He questioned why Kishan Reddy was making “blatant misstatements” despite taking a constitutional position.
He alleged that Mr Kishan Reddy was advocating the corruption of BRS from Delhi and claimed that the BRS-BJP nexus is obvious to the people of Telangana. He questioned why the BJP did not register even a single FIR against the alleged corruption of the BRS. He alleged that in the CBI and ED action on the Kaleshwaram project, the Sheep Scam and the Formula E race, they were deliberately protecting BRS leaders.
