According to media reports, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been taken to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of United’s Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday. The 84-year-old was at Old Trafford for the high-profile clash between the two rivals.
Sky Sports reported that Ferguson was conscious and underwent precautionary checks before being taken away. A Manchester United spokesman said the club could not comment on Ferguson’s condition.
Ferguson, who managed United from 1986 until his retirement in 2013, enjoyed a glittering 26 years at the club, winning 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies. During his management, he secured a total of 38 trophies.
He remains a regular at United’s home games and has a designated row of seats in the Old Trafford directors’ box.
LIVERPOOL MAN UNITED EDGE
Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-2 in a dramatic Premier League clash, with Kobbie Mainoo scoring late on to seal victory and boost United’s bid to return to the Champions League next season after a two-year absence.
Mainoo struck from the edge of the box in the 77th minute to send Old Trafford into a frenzy.
United had previously led 2-0, Matheus Cunha scoring in the sixth minute, before Benjamin Sesko doubled the advantage eight minutes later.
Liverpool struggled in the second half. Dominik Szoboszlai reduced in the 47th minute after Amad Diallo lost the ball, and Cody Gakpo equalized nine minutes later after a costly mistake at the back.
However, Mainoo had the final say as United climbed to third place with 64 points from 35 games. Liverpool are fourth on 58 points, as are Aston Villa, who have a game in hand.
