
Manchester City captain and Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva has announced his departure from the club at the end of the season. Silva, who joined City from AS Monaco in 2017, scored 77 goals and provided 76 assists in 451 appearances during his nine-year spell.

Silva won 19 major honors with City, including six Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League crown, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups, three Community Shields, along with victories in the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. He recently captained City in the Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal.
Silva played a key role in City’s 100-point Premier League triumph in 2017–18, their domestic clean sheet in 2018–19 and their run of four consecutive league titles between 2021 and 2024.
City confirmed Silva’s departure in an official statement. The 31-year-old is aiming to help City regain the Premier League title when they face Arsenal this weekend.

Silva delivered an emotional message to City fans via social media, highlighting his passion to make the fans proud.
“To the fans, your unconditional support over the years is something I will never forget. My main goal as a player has always been to play with passion so that you can feel proud and well represented on the pitch. I hope you felt that every game. I came as a Man City player, I leave as one of you, a Man City fan for life. Support this young team and I’m sure they will bring you many new memories. Silva.
The Portuguese midfielder also expressed his gratitude to Pep Guardiola, the staff and his teammates.
“To the club, Pep, the staff and all my teammates for these 9 years, I thank you for all the memories and for being able to be a part of this journey for so long. The atmosphere we created every day on the training ground made me feel at home and part of a big family. Let’s enjoy these last weeks together and fight for what this season still brings us,” said Silva.
City are currently six points behind Arsenal ahead of their meeting on Sunday, April 19, with a game in hand.
