Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola described as an important victory over Aston Villa, while adding that the club season was terrible and “no matter if we reach the final (FA Cup) or qualifications for the Champions League”.
Matheus nunes scored the winner at the time of stopping at the Etihad Stadium after Bernardo Silva canceled Marcus Rashford’s sentence for the city. The city jumped third in the Premier League table with four games, while Villa stayed seventh.
Five five years in the Premier League would secure the European Cup for Manchester City next season.
“This season was bad,” Guardiola said. “It does not matter whether we will achieve the final (FA Cup) or qualifications for the Champions League. The fact is that what determines what feels you, the season is good is the Premier League, not the Champions League, not the FA CUPS.
“But it happens, sometimes you have a bad season. The team level (in the Premier League) is excellent.”
Guardiola described the last five league matches as the “final” at the beginning of the game, while the feelings hosted wolves and Bournemouth before facing Southampton and Fulham.
Ruben Dias emphasized the importance of their victory over Villa. The Portuguese defender said the security of the Champions League football is more important than the FA Cup.
Dias said, “They’re with us on the top five. A special game to get three points. Four games to go and all of them will be massively important. We’re going on.
“We know how tight it is and how tight it will be until the end. I can’t quantify how important it was today.
“That means everything to us. We know exactly what circumstances we are, the top four or five means everything. This is our main trophy. We have FA Cup and Club World Cup, but that’s all for us.”
