Man steals TGSRTC bus, knocks down three motorcyclists, detained after hitting tree

A 35-year-old man allegedly stole an empty TGSRTC bus from Korutla bus stand and rashly drove it for nearly 18 km before hitting three motorcyclists en route and crashing into a roadside tree in Jagtial district on Tuesday.

The incident, which unfolded like a scene from a movie, left three motorcyclists injured and a police vehicle damaged.

The man, identified as Sambaiah, of Nagaram village in Dharmapuri mandal, took off towards Metpalli while the police chased him.

He hit three motorcyclists at different places along the Korutla-Metpalli road before the bus crashed into a tree near Metpalli, where the police apprehended him.

The injured motorists were taken to a hospital in Jagtial.

The Korutla police registered the case and started an investigation.
