A man from China spent almost ₹5 million to create artificial eight-pack abs. He claims to have spent four million yuan on acid injections.
The man, known online as Andy Hao Tienan, has around one million followers. He is known for his beauty and fashion posts. Hao says his body now contains large amounts of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in humans that helps joints move and keeps skin moist.
Hao claims that this acid makes up almost 20% of his body. Hao wants to take a total of 10,000 doses and says he has already completed about 40% of that plan, according to the South China Morning Post.
A few months ago, he made news by injecting 40 doses into his shoulders, collarbones, chest and stomach to shape his abs. However, he did not share the medical details of these procedures.
The man says he opted for the cosmetic treatment because regular exercise didn’t help him get the figure he wanted.
“I totally agree that cowards don’t grow muscles. But you have to understand, I’ve had so many injections. I’m not a coward anymore. Would you dare to do the same?” SCMP quoted Hao as saying.
“If my abs don’t disappear in three years, I’ll ask Guinness for the longest-lasting artificial abs made of hyaluronic acid. I’ll do a live broadcast of cracking walnuts on my abs for everyone to see,” Hao added.
In a video from late October, about five months after the procedure, Hao said he was still happy with his artificial abs. He explained that the hyaluronic acid did not shift or clump, contrary to what some people and doctors had warned.
“It actually looks more natural and better over time. Even the lines between the abs are still distinct and haven’t merged into a single lump,” he said.
The expert warns of the consequences
Li Jialun, an expert in cosmetic surgery, warned that Hao’s extreme cosmetic injections could be dangerous. He explained that injecting 40 doses of hyaluronic acid can crush the skin and even lead to necrosis of blood vessels.
According to Li, although muscles may look real when they are at rest, their shape will appear abnormal when moving because real muscles are dynamic. He also warned that natural muscles can shrink over time because fillers such as hyaluronic acid can erode bone and put pressure on surrounding muscle tissue.
“When the filler dissolves, your original muscles can look even weaker. And fourth, displacement is a very likely side effect,” SCMP quoted Li as saying.
