A routine Vietnam Airlines flight turned out to be a chaotic experience for one passenger after he had to endure all the tantrums of the toddler sitting next to him. The traveler, who goes by the name Paul Lee, documented his experience on TikTok, calling it “the worst flight ever”. In the clip, which has now gone viral, Lee can be seen wearing a black T-shirt and calmly sipping from a cup of tea while a young girl sitting next to him repeatedly kicks him in the arm and shoulder.
The toddler screamed and kicked throughout the flight as the woman, believing she was her mother, tried to calm her down but failed. At one point, he can even be heard laughing. However, Lee remains calm, wearing headphones and choosing not to engage with them.
“Worst possible sitting next to a crying baby,” Lee captioned the video, which has garnered more than four million views.
According to a report in People magazine, the incident allegedly took place in 2024 on a Vietnam Airlines flight and is now gaining momentum after Lee recently released the footage. “This was filmed last year and I had to sit next to the mother and daughter. It was about five minutes long,” he said.
Despite being hit several times, Lee said he chose to remain calm rather than escalate the situation. “I didn’t confront her or do anything, I just waited and then enjoyed the flight. A little patience goes a long way. The child’s mother didn’t apologize,” he claimed.
“Before I let it ruin my whole flight and make a scene, I just waited it out. Luckily it stopped after minutes and I enjoyed the rest of the flight. Some battles are not worth having,” he added.
Reaction on social networks:
The video has since garnered over 200,000 likes and thousands of comments.
“Moms, please remember your child is special to you,” wrote one user, while another added: “Letting your child kick a stranger IS UNACCEPTABLE!”
“Yet people wonder why some might want flights without kids. It’s not about hating kids – flights themselves can be frustrating and exhausting and kids make it worse,” commented another.
