
Thiruvananthapuram another meeting on Thursday sentenced a 35 -year -old man to 21 years of strict imprisonment for the sexual assault of an older woman who lived alone. Another meeting of Judge Shibu MP, who found that the accused Shafeeq, son of Sajad Hussain, from Payyampally in Nedumangad, wine from crime, also slapped a fine of 60 000 GBP.
According to prosecution led by a special prosecutor Ajith Prasad JK, the incident occurred on April 7, 2017, when Shafeeq, a repeated perpetrator with the history of theft and violent crime, broke into the night of the survivor at night. The woman who lived herself was exposed to a brutal attack and her golden ornaments were stolen.
Fingerprints to help
Since it was dark, the survivors could not visually identify its attacker. This left the police Valiyathur, who investigated this case to rely solely on indirect evidence. Fingerprints recovered from the jewelry box at the crime scene that corresponded to the records maintained by the fingerprint office for the usual perpetrators. This forensic evidence proved to be essential in detaining the suspect. Shafeeq was involved in several cases of theft even after the bail in a particular case.
The prosecution presented 21 witnesses and created 41 exhibits and 10 material objects. The case was investigated by KB Manoj Kumar and Ashok Kumar V. who were then inspectors of the Valiyathur police.
