
The First Additional District and Sessions Court on Wednesday convicted a person of sexually assaulting a minor girl and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of ₹1.3 million.
A 28-year-old individual from Tirthahalli taluk kidnapped a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her. The mother of the deceased filed a complaint with the police. A case was registered under the POCSO Act, apart from the relevant sections of the IPC. Thereafter, Tirthahalli Police Inspector Ashwath Gowda conducted an investigation and filed a FIR.
After hearing the case, the judge convicted the defendant and sentenced him to 10 years in prison in addition to the sentence. The court also ordered compensation of ₹ 4 million to the survivors.
