Man killed in suspected chemical blast in Meerpet, investigation underway

A 43-year-old laborer was killed in an explosion at Badangpet in Meerpet on Sunday, with police suspecting that a chemical may have triggered the blast.

The deceased was identified as Anoop, 43, who had recently come from Kolkata in search of employment.

After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and took the remains for autopsy. A case has been registered.

Bomb Squad personnel also visited the site and carried out examinations as part of the investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion may have been caused by a chemical reaction involving paint or another substance that may have been mishandled or discarded. Police said the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.

Further investigation is underway.
