A shocking video has surfaced on social media, purportedly from the state capital, showing a man verbally and physically assaulting a woman believed to be his girlfriend. The incident, which reportedly took place at Swarn Jayanti Park, also known as Japan Park, has gained considerable attention online and sparked a debate about toxic relationships.
The clip, which has now gone viral, was recorded by a man who was walking in the park during the altercation. In the video, the man can be heard saying:
“I came to the park for a walk and I sat on the bench behind them. I watched them. The man had been beating his girlfriend for some time. She had already been slapped 30-40 times.”
As seen in the video, the man, visibly enraged, yells at the woman sitting on the bench next to him. In no time, the situation turns violent. As his anger grew, he stood up and slapped the woman.
The person recording goes on to add: “You see, they are in such a toxic relationship; they were fighting and arguing for so long. He beat her a lot and everyone around was watching. I was forced to make a video.”
Here’s how social media users reacted
The video sparked a wide range of reactions online, with several users condemning the man’s behavior and raising concerns about toxic relationships.
One user commented: “The most shocking part? How many people just get away with it. To witness a woman get slapped 30-40 times and a record of just one person is a heartbreaking reflection of our society. This is not a ‘private matter’ between a couple, it is a violent assault. We need to stop normalizing ‘toxic’ relationships when they are clearly criminal behavior.”
Another said: “Real men don’t raise their hands.”
on women. If you can’t handle your emotions, you don’t deserve a relationship. Violence is not love, it is weakness. True manliness is to protect her in public and respect her in private.”
“The fact that a girl is sitting there getting slapped by him makes me so angry. Damn you are glued to the bench. Have some respect for yourself and walk away. People who love you don’t beat you up. Abusers always escalate and this man is a hell of an abuser,” someone else wrote sharply.
The individual demanded, “Please report this person.”
One user also tagged the official Delhi Police account and said, “For your action against violence in public. She is being so rudely attacked.”
