Man held with MDMA worth ₹2.5 million in Chirayinkeezhu, Kerala

The Thiruvananthapuram Rural Police arrested a man allegedly in possession of about 815 grams of MDMA worth an estimated ₹2.5 million in Chirayinkeezhu on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Shafi of Perumathura. According to the police, the contraband was recovered from the bag he was carrying.

The arrest was made by the Rural District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) team which had the accused under surveillance. The police suspect that Shafi had come to the area to sell the narcotic substance.

In an apparent attempt to escape police surveillance, he allegedly traveled on foot and carried drugs. During interrogation, Shafi allegedly told police that a relative had recently brought contraband from Oman. However, the police have yet to verify his claim.
