In a twist straight out of the drama, a groom-to-be turned his canceled honeymoon into a surprise online proposal — and the internet can’t get enough of it.
Ashish Guptawho recently exchanged rings, has already booked a honeymoon in Seoul with his fiancee after spotting a significant discount during the tour. But just as the pre-wedding festivities began, the relationship fell apart overnight. According to Ashish, a disagreement during their cocktail party led his fiancee to call off the wedding, leaving him heartbroken and with two non-refundable tickets.
Instead of going quiet, Ashish took his story to Reddit and framed it with humor and a touch of cinematic drama.
“Free tickets to Seoul – only if your name is Ashish Gupta”
Sharing a photo of the booked tickets, Ashish wrote that he was stunned by the wedding debacle – especially as his fiancee reportedly told him she wanted an “open marriage”. Confused and embarrassed, he said he had no idea how to explain the concept to his traditional family.
Frustrated but determined to salvage something from the situation, he announced an offer: anyone who shared his name could get free honeymoon tickets. He added that those traveling with someone named “Rashi” — the name of his ex-fiancée — were especially welcome on the trip.
His post quickly went viral across social platforms, eliciting a Bollywood-style mix of laughter, sympathy and advice. Some urged him to take the trip solo and make it a “self-love vacation”, while others admired how he handled the situation with humor rather than bitterness.
“I’m glad you saved yourself from a lot of legal drama if you took the best for your future,” the user wrote.
Another user wrote: “Bhai sorry you had to go through this but congrats on getting out of your life’s regrets. India has become a country where men are totally screwed if there are problems in marriage. Ik it hurts but pls take care!!”
A third user wrote: “Bro, my name is literally the same, but I have no one to go with me.”
A fourth user wrote: “WTF is open marriage? First the situation, now this…what’s going on man?”
“I would recommend going solo and taking time to heal. Stay strong bro,” wrote a fifth user.
The unconventional gift has now become a mini-viral moment—the kind of real-life plot twist that’s perfect for a romantic comedy.
