Man gets 20 years in jail for sexually assaulting minor girl in Villupuram

A Special Court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) in Villupuram on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a 36-year-old man to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Special Court Judge M. Vinodha also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused person, P. Siva of Tindivanam.

According to the indictment, the victim lost both parents and was staying at a relative’s house. On October 10, 2020, the perpetrator broke into the house and sexually assaulted her. The Tindivanam all-women police registered a case and arrested Siva.

The court also ordered that a compensation of ₹5 crore be given to the survivor.
