Man dies days after alleged police attack in Chirayinkeezhu

A Perumkuzhy man died on Monday, days after he was allegedly assaulted by police. The death prompted his family to file a complaint with the Chirayinkeezhu police.

The deceased, identified as Saji (42), reportedly collapsed at his home and died on Monday morning. His relatives claim that he was ambushed by the police in front of his house on October 2.

According to the family, Saji intervened when police allegedly assaulted a neighbor. He claims he was then beaten by the police, who left him in a weakened state. Since then, he remained bedridden at home and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chirayinkeezhu.

Relatives alleged that the attack took place under the guidance of Circle Inspector Chirayinkeezhu. A complaint was filed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Attingal, demanding action against those responsible for the incident. The complainants also filed a protest.
