Man dies after being attacked for seeking loan repayment in Arsikere
A man died after he was allegedly assaulted by a couple during an argument over an outstanding loan at JC Pura in Kanakatte hobli in Karnataka’s Arsikere taluk on August 31.
The deceased, Mansoor Pasha, was allegedly attacked by Sanaullah and his wife Jareena Banu, residents of the same village.
According to the complaint filed by Aseeya Tabassum, sister-in-law of the deceased, Sanaullah had borrowed ₹40,000 from Mr. Pasha about a year ago. Despite repeated reminders, he did not return the amount.
On August 31, around 1pm, Sanaullah confronted Mr Pasha near Ms Tabassum’s house in JC Pura about the debt. When Mr Pasha asked him to repay the loan, Sanaullah allegedly flew into a rage and abused him before assaulting the deceased along with his wife.
Ms Tabassum, her aunt Bhatina Khanam and her son Mohammed Faiz, who tried to intervene and pacify the two sides, were allegedly pushed away by the accused. Mohammed Faiz suffered head injuries after being pushed against a wall.
Mr. Pasha fell unconscious during the assault. Mrs Tabassum and her father-in-law Mujahid Khan rushed him by car to Arsikere Government Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on examination.
Based on Ms. Tabassum’s complaint of alleged assault and murder, the Banavar police have registered a case and are investigating.
