Man dies after alleged attack in Kannur

A 56-year-old man died on Friday (July 3, 2026) while undergoing treatment for severe head injuries sustained in an alleged assault following a drunken altercation near Kannur railway station.

The deceased was identified as Chandran (56), a native of Thiruvananthapuram.

According to the police, Chandran was attacked on June 25 at around 8 pm outside the railway station. He was initially treated at the Kannur District Hospital and was later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Pariyaram after his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries around noon on Friday.

The city police have launched a detailed investigation.
