The man was arrested by the Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station (CCS) in Hyderabad along with Hussaini Alam police for illegal possession of a country pistol.
The accused has been identified as Amjad Khan (29), who runs a business in Charminar.
According to the police, Amjad is a native of Hyderabad who returned after working in Saudi Arabia and later started a business in Charminar. About ten months ago, he had allegedly bought a country-made 0.7mm pistol for ₹80,000 from a person identified as Avinash, also known as Kallu, a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The purchase was made through an intermediary named Amith, a resident of BHEL, Hyderabad and a native of Madhya Pradesh. Police said the accused kept the gun with him and used it to threaten the public.
During the arrest, the police seized a home-made 0.7 mm pistol and a mobile phone from the accused. While Amjad Khan has been apprehended, the other two accused, Avinash and Amith, are absconding.
Police advised individuals in illegal possession of arms and weapons to surrender them at the nearest police station, warning that the Hyderabad City Police is keeping a strict vigil on anti-social elements and will take swift action against violators.
