Man arrested in Chhattisgarh for brutally assaulting wife

A 44-year-old man was arrested for brutally assaulting his wife in the Korean district of Chhattisgarh on June 14.

He allegedly tied the woman’s limbs, partially undressed her, shaved her head, blackened her face and forced her to drink their son’s urine for an alleged extramarital affair. Footage of the shocking incident has surfaced online.

All four of the couple’s children, aged 17 to 10, reportedly watched the assault, although one of their daughters recorded the video.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Korea) Suresha Chaubey said during the investigation it was revealed that the woman had left her husband and children to live with another man in another area. On the day of the incident, she was visiting a friend in the neighborhood in the same locality where her husband lives. When he heard about her visit, he reached there and attacked her.

“There he tied my limbs. Then he cut my hair and poured motor oil on me. Then he shaved my head with a blade. He forced me to urinate on my children and even forced me to drink urine… he punched me and kicked me and even threatened to kill me,” the victim told reporters on Thursday.

Case registered

The FIR was initially registered a day after the incident under sections 85 (abuse by spouse or relatives), 115(2) (voluntarily causing bodily harm), 296 (obscene acts) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

After the video surfaced on social media, the police added section 123 of the BNS, 2023 for causing hurt by poison. They face up to 10 years in prison, Ms. Chaubey said.

The woman is understood to have told police that after he assaulted her after she underwent sterilization surgery. She also claimed that her husband was having an affair.
