Bagalkot police have arrested a man who used his 12-year-old son to write Jai Sri Ram slogans on the wall of a mosque in the city.
Jamunori Bhajantri, an auto driver, visited the street on Friday evening with six children, including some of his sister’s children. He asked his 12-year-old son to write the slogan on the wall of the mosque.
This incident was captured on nearby CCTV. A team of police officers visited the spot and scanned the CCTV footage. They arrested Yamunori Bhajantri. His son, who is now considered a child in conflict with the law, was taken into custody and brought before the Juvenile Justice Court.
Police said a proper judicial process is underway, including further investigations.
Superintendent of Police Siddarth Goel appealed to people not to use innocent children for crimes.
He warned adults indulging in such acts of stern legal action. He also praised the members of the mosque community for maintaining peace and restraint.
