The Bengalur Municipal Police arrested 27 -year -old accountants for recording and publishing voyeuristic videos of women traveling to the Namma Metro using an anonymous account on Instagram.
Arrested, identified as Diganth, 27, from Holenarsipura, Hassan district, worked as an accountant in a private company in Mugeshpalya. It was booked according to Section 77 (Voyeurism), 78 (persecution) Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 and Section 67 (issuing or transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
“We successfully traced a person who operated an anonymous Instagram account published by Voyeuristic Videos of Women Passengers on the Namm Metro without their consent. All videos were recorded by the accused,” said Loket B. Jagalasar, tenant of the police commissioner (South Division), Bengalur.
He lived in rented accommodation near Peenya and commuted the subway to work. All 13 videos he posted on the Instagram anonymous account was recorded on his mobile phone while traveling on the subway, the police said.
The police said the phone was confiscated and sent for forensic analysis. Sources have stated that there may be more videos that has noticed, but has not yet published on social media.
The accused Digant recently launched an anonymous Metro_chicks account, posted 13 videos that uploaded to the Namma Metro, and won the account more than 5900 followers than the videos deleted, marked and removed the account.
