
Police Codanad arrested a 24 -year -old man for accusing the murder of an older woman, his neighbor.
The accused, identified as Adwaith Shibu of Cheralloor, was from Bommanahall near Bengalur in custody. The victim, Annamma, 84, from Thotvava, was found dead on the plot near Thottva’s temple around 29 July around 20.30. The scene lacked gold ornaments.
The head of the District Police (Ernakulam Country) M. Hemalath has set up a special investigative platoon to explore the case.
According to the police, Adwaith confessed to a crime and claimed that he acted from revenge after the victim cursed his mother and also because of financial problems. Reportedly attacked Annamm from behind by throwing coconut on it. When she shouted for help, he was said to have hit her and stole her golden ornaments. Then he briefly returned home before he escaped to Ernakula and the next day to Bengalur.
