
Kengeri police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a person on the road after he was questioned for unnecessary honking. The incident took place near Nagadevanahalli in Kengeri on Sunday.
The victim, Nanjundappa, 55, was allegedly assaulted by a man named Naveen. The incident took place on February 22 and the entire incident was caught on CCTV camera.
According to the complaint, Nanjundappa was walking on the road near RR Layout in Nagadevanahalli on February 22 at around 5.20 pm. That’s when Naveen, who had come from behind in a car, allegedly repeatedly honked at him to clear the way. Nanjundappa reportedly told Naveen, “There is enough space on the road, you can go.”
An enraged Naveen allegedly got out of the car and verbally assaulted Nanjundappa. Naveen’s mother, who was present, tried to calm him down, but he did not budge. He continued to argue and then physically assaulted Nanjundappa. After the victim left, the accused allegedly chased him in the car, confronted him again and assaulted him. A few residents eventually intervened and pacified the situation.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
