Malayalam Rapper Hirandas Murali, known under his stage Vedan, appeared on Tuesday before the Police of Thrikkakar in connection with the probe into the case of a sexual attack registered against him. He appeared at the police station within 10 hours and left the premises after five hours of interrogation. The interrogation will continue on Wednesday, the police said.
The singer received a predictive bail in the case of the Keral High Court in August.
Before entering the police station, Vedan said Media that he would cooperate with the investigation fully. He further refused to comment on a case that is subordinate. “Let the case end. Then I’ll say my side of the story,” he told reporters as he left the station.
Vedan was booked by the Police of Thrikkaka on the basis of a complaint filed by a female doctor from Kozhikode, who accused him of rape several times between 2021 and 2023 on the confusion of a false marital promise. While he gave him a predictable bail, the High Court noted that his interrogation in custody was not necessary, although the accusations against him were of serious nature.
The Central Police of Ernakulm also registered the case against Vedan on the basis of a complaint by a woman’s research worker. In this case, the 354 Indian Criminal Code (IPC), which deals with the crime of using an attack or criminal force against a woman with the intention of outraging her modesty, according to the police, was slapped.
