
Malaysaalam film actress MINU MUNEER was arrested on Monday by the Cyber Police in Kochi for allegedly derogatory comments against a veteran actor-director Balachandra Menon through social media. Later she was released on bail.
The actress was arrested in connection with the case registered in October last year after the complaint accused her of repeated offensive comments online against Menon.
According to the police, comments were made shortly after the report of the HEM report of the Committee, which examined the issue of harassment and abuse faced by women in the Malaysian film industry.
The accusations against the actress include Section 351 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Criminal intimidation), Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (publication or transmission of obscene content) and Section 120 (o) of the Police Act of Keral (causing non -recovery through repeated or anonymous communication).
In September last year, MIN MUNEER claimed that the filmmaker Menon forced her to watch sex in his room in his room in 2007.
“Several other men sat down and watched that three girls were involved and he came out. I came out of the room. He asked me to sit and watch,” Muneer quoted India today.
She also accused several people, including actor Jayasury and CPI (m) MLA Mukesh, of physical and verbal abuse.

The Hema Justice Committee was established by the government of Kerala after an attack on the 2017 actress. He probed various accusations of sexual harassment against female professionals in the Malaysian film industry.

The court noted that the film Conclave was planned by the State Government in the first week of August 2025 and ordered the petitions to mention 13th August for further assessment.
