Although Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan accused the Public Work Department (PWD) for alleged delays on receipt of the development of Maliapa-vellimadukunnu section of Manachira-vellimadukunnnu, Minister of Public Work, PA Mohamed Riyas said
On Tuesday (October 7), the Minister said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Motorways allowed PWD to attract work on the section. This was followed by a proposal of the state government. Work on the section was constantly waiting.
Mr. Riyas said that it had previously decided to expand the Manachira-Velimadukunnnu road as a four-lane road under the project of improving the city road. The government has also completed land acquisition for this purpose. However, the state did not receive the work on the Maliapa-vellimadukunnu section because it was part of the Maliapa-Muthang National Motorway National Highway (NH 766). After PWD wrote the Center, he asked for approval to start work on the section and conducted discussions with officials. When the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently met the Minister of the Union Nitin Gadkari in Nový Delhi, this problem was also warned. Mr. Gadkari then promised to look at this proposal, Riyas said.
Meanwhile, PWD officials said that the work advanced to 5.32 km of 8.34 km Manachira-vellimadukunnu. The Malaca-vellimadukunnu section is over three km long. The state government assigned Crore 482 GBP to expanding work, Crore 344.5 GBP for land acquisition and 137.44 Crore for road construction.
