Chamarajanagar district, authorized by Minister K. Venkatesh, ordered the local authorities to ensure that there was no lack of drinking water in any part of the district in the summer.
On Tuesday he chaired the meeting of the Karnataka Audit Meeting in Chamarajanagar. It is necessary to take steps to alleviate problems if there are hints of immediate water crisis, he added.
Mr. Venkates said that officials should map villages where there could be a lack of water and adequately take measures. They were told to identify alternative water sources to ensure continuous supplies to people and cattle in rural areas.
The Minister said that the role of developing officers Panchayat was important to alleviate public problems in the summer and ordered them to stay in the relevant headquarters and ensure that the villages would not suffer from a lack of water.
The Minister called for water storage and pointed out a potential leak and a departure near water sources and said it should be prevented. The Jal Jeevan mission was also reviewed to ensure water supply to villages.
The MLA Ar Krishnamurt drew attention to broken pipes, resulting in water leakage and called for repairs. The officials were also told to store adequate cat food.
The agricultural department was reviewed and the officials were instructed to ensure that there was no lack of seeds and fertilizers anywhere in the district. Farmers should be able to deal with sowing as soon as the rain begins, the minister said.
Officials were also warned against the distribution of seeds of dubious quality because it would affect the production of agriculture or the yield of crop. In the event that the quality of the seeds is not verified, this would mean justifying the obligation and the notification would be issued to the officials concerned, Venkatesh said.
The functioning of the public transport system in the district was in control and Mr. Venkatesh ordered the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation to run services to remote areas as a social commitment without considering the motive of profit. This will help students, children, women and seniors, he added.
