Minister of Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy on Monday ordered officials to assign priority to fill tanks because the area of the Kaugers catchment area received good rainfall. Farmers will benefit in the coming days, if the tanks are filled, he said.
Cheluvarayasswamy, who is also the Minister responsible for the Mandya district, was chaired by the meeting of the Advisory Committee for irrigation at the Krishnaraja Sagar dam.
The minister told officials that there should be no complaints from farmers, elected representatives and organizations not to get water for agricultural activities when Krs is full.
He said there was not enough funds for tanks and maintenance work. Discussions should take place with the MLA and the means can be used adequate for work.
The MLA for Srirangapatna Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda said the current situation is beneficial for agricultural activities. However, officials must plan so that water is not a problem for summer crops.
Representative of the Commissioner Kumar has shared details of the influx and drain of the dam in recent years.
