Director and Vice-Chairman of the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Iari), New Delhi, Ch. Srinivasa Rao emphasized the need for agriculture in the water to become a priority.
On Wednesday, on the University campus in Dharwad, he delivered an address to the 38th anniversary of the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad.
Mr. Rao said that groundwater was as a bank balance and should be used economically by behaving on the water.
Mr. Rao, emphasized the need for education on the farm outside the four walls of the classrooms, analyzed the agricultural scenario in Karnataka, especially with reference to North Karnataka, and said water protection is essential. He mentioned new opportunities in the field of oil and pulse production and adding value in North Karnataka.
Congratulations to candidates who have completed graduation and postgraduate studies have spoken about new opportunities for outgoing students. Mr. Rao emphasized the role of young minds when he faced challenges in agriculture, which he said he could ensure sustainability in agriculture.
The solution of the assembly, the Minister of Agriculture and the Chancellor UAS-D N. Cheluvarayaswamy praised the university for its success in the development of various new varieties. He called on students and faculties to work on water protection, organic farming, natural agriculture and digitization of agricultural technologies.
Chairman’s convening, governor and Chancellor Uas-D ThaaWarchand Gehlot said that graduates were ambassadors of agriculture and had the ability to advance the nation to the highest level. Technological advances should be modified to make agriculture smarter, he said.
Vice-Chancellor Plus, welcomed the dignitaries, introduced a report on the progress of Uuniversity, including teaching, research, extension, seed production and in various spheres.
On this occasion, honorary doctorates were awarded to three progressive farmers: Dyamanagouda Tammanagouda Pedbali (under the transformation of infertile soil into productive and fertile soil), Shankar H. Langati of Belagavi (to preserve traditional varieties) and Muttanna V. Pujar
Aishwarya Basarikatti and Cartik Chigari., Who received four gold medals for ensuring the highest OGPA (9,205/10) in BSC Agriculture (Hons), were declared “Golden Girl” and “Golden Boy” together.
HEMALATHA C., BSC Agriculture (Hons) and Bharatkumar Virsh Goudar, BSC Agriculture (Hons) and Virsh Alamel, BSC Forestry (Hons) were awarded UAS Gold Medals for ensuring the highest OGPA from the agricultural university, Vijayapura; Agriculture College, Hanumanamatti and College of Forestry, Sirsi.
Nikita Nippani, BSC (Hons) Community Science and Chitra U., Btech (Food Tech) received Gold medals for ensuring the highest OGPA in community sciences and food technologies.
A total of 863 candidates received 41 doctoral studies, 197 postgraduate studies and 625 postgraduate titles. Students were awarded a total of 44 gold medals UAS, 20 other gold medals and nine cash prizes.
The registrar of A. Bheemapp, members of the Board of Directors, the Academic Council, were present by deans of various universities.
