Minister Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu approved the proposal of the Ministry of Health, family care and medical education to form an 18-member council that supervises control of HIV/AIDS in the state.
The proposal came from the Minister of Health, care for family and medical education Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, who noted that the Council with members from various departments would contribute to strengthening the ongoing efforts to control HIV/AIDS.
The new Council, with the main secretary as its chairman, would allow political decisions, effective implementation of AIDS control programs through regular monitoring and evaluation of results, mobilizing resources and better implementation of Progarmmes through inter -coordination and encouragement of community participation.
According to official release, the Council focuses on 100% of the registration of people living with HIV (plhiv), the most endangered population (Marp), children affected by AIDS (CABA) and ensuring the right preventive and after the diseases of treatment protocols, except for their inclusion in various social protection systems.
The Council is obliged to provide proper management for implementing measures to inspect AIDS in the State through regular revision meetings.
The Council includes special main secretaries, chief secretaries and secretaries of various departments such as health, school education, university education, women and children development, Panachayati Raj and rural development, city administration and city development, youth matters, tourism, agriculture, transport, roads and buildings.
The council will also include representatives of affected people, representatives of civil society organizations and NGOs. Project director, Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, will be members-CONVENOR.
