“The accused caught his aunt unaware, allegedly attacked her from behind with a wooden log and a bamboo stick. The woman died instantly due to the violence,” the official said.

The DCP noted that investigations revealed that the woman had earlier scolded her dropout nephew about his career prospects and excessive television viewing. The teenager, outraged by the reprimand, summoned his friend to the residence. The pair allegedly tried to hide the remains in a bed but were unsuccessful and eventually fled the property.

The crime was discovered when the victim’s daughter, unable to contact her mother by phone, asked her brother to check the house where he found the body.

During the interrogation, the nephew confessed to the murder.

The police further revealed that the minor had committed a theft on his aunt three months ago, prompting her to secure her jewelery in a bank vault.

Murder charges were filed and both boys were taken to a juvenile detention center.

Delhi: 2 arrested for stabbing man to death in Azadpur

Meanwhile, two persons have reportedly been detained stabbing a man to death in northwest Delhi’s Azadpur area following ongoing clashes between local rival factions, police said on Tuesday.

The attack took place on February 12 at around 1:30 pm near the monastery market where Rehan Raj and his companion Gaurav had come to buy clothes. Police said the duo was blocked by Samir, Chirag, Rohit and another accomplice. The attackers targeted both victims because of long-standing enmity stemming from conflicts between two groups living in the same neighborhood.

The suspects, Chirag and Rohit – both of Bhalaswa Dairy – subsequently attacked Gaurav and Rehan with knives, resulting in multiple stab injuries. Both the victims were taken to a medical facility in Jahangirpuri, according to police reports.

The case was initially filed by the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder. However, section 103(1) for murder was included after Rehan succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.

Authorities noted that the two suspects were captured in Bhalaswa on February 16. During interrogation, they admitted that the enmity between the opposing parties had been festering for a long time, which had prompted them to plan Rehan’s murder. On the day of the stabbing, the perpetrators allegedly chased the victims into Monastery Market, cornered them, carried out a knife attack and then fled the area.

Police records indicate that Chirag completed his education till 10th standard while Rohit reached 12th standard. Neither person has a previous criminal record. Operations are currently underway to arrest other people linked to the incident as investigations continue.
