
The wing of economic offenses in Mumbai (EOW) was arrested on Wednesday by Purushottam Chavan, the husband of the IPS officer, for the alleged cheating of an entrepreneur based in Surrat and another £7.42 crore, reported PTI.
According to the report, Purushottam Chavan, married with IPS officer Rashmi Karandikar, was to custody in the evening. He has already been in judicial custody in the previous case concerning similar accusations.
EOW said Chavan allegedly cheated on an entrepreneur based in Surrat and several others by promising land for discounted rates within the alleged scheme of “government quotas”.
Reportedly, he also offered to secure government contracts for the delivery of T -shirts at the Maharashtra Police Academy and further attracted his goals with a prospect of official connection.
At the beginning of May, Chavan was arrested EOW in another case of high value fraud where he was charged with cheating more people on the melody £24.78 crore. Reportedly promised to sell government quotas flats in Mumbai, Thane and Pune at discounted prices, PTI added.
