Which areas are warned and how strong are the winds?
Meteorologists have released a warning for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Wind speed 45-55 km/h, impacts up to 65 km/h, are expected along the coast of the northern Maharashtra between 3 and 5 October.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy or very strong precipitation across the internal regions of Maharahtra, especially in Eastern Vidarbha and parts of Marathwady. There is also a risk of flooding in the low -laid areas of the northern conkan due to intensive formation of clouds and increased atmospheric moisture.
What measures did the government take?
In response to the Cyclone Shakti warning, the Mahashrashtra Government issued a readiness directive. The district administrations were instructed to activate disaster management systems, prepare evacuation plans for residents in coastal and low -laid areas, issued public councils, discouraged from sea travel and secured safety measures during periods of severe precipitation.
How will life be influenced in Mumbai and neighboring cities?
Mumbai and neighboring areas are likely to experience intense Cyclone Shakti precipitation that could disrupt traffic services, cause waterlogging in low -laid areas and affect routine activities. The inhabitants are recommended that they carefully plan travel, avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during heavy downpours, and remain alert on the city warning of floods or closure of roads.
