Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched an investigation into the alleged stabbing of two security personnel in Thane district amid allegations that the accused was associated with “anti-national activities”, police said on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old accused, Jabar Ansari, a chemistry instructor, allegedly attacked two security guards with a knife following an argument on Monday (April 27, 2026) morning. Ansari, who had been living in the US for some time, allegedly approached the guards employed at an under-construction building on Mira Road in the Naya Nagar area to find a way to the mosque. According to the police, the victims alleged that Ansari asked them to recite “Kalma” (Islamic verse) and attacked them with a knife when they were unable to do so.
