The Minister of Social Care HC Mahadevappa, who is also the Minister responsible for the Mysuru district, convened a meeting of officials in the city on Wednesday and gave them instructions to take all preventive measures against rain damage in the district.
Manhadevappa pointed out that Monsoon arrived early in the district, and reviewed the water level in reservoirs and inflow levels, while asking officials to respond quickly to complaints about rain damage.
He ordered officials to immediately provide appropriate compensation for the owners of six cattle heads that died in the rain in Nanjangud Taluk. He also asked officials to immediately take over the 146 electric poles that were damaged in the rain.
He warned officials of possible contamination of drinking water due to rainwater leakage into water reservoirs and wells due to heavy rains. “Under no circumstances, drinking water should not be contaminated,” he said.
With rainfall exceeding expectations, he ordered officials to ensure that farmers who are preparing for sowers must not face any problems with access to adequate seeds and fertilizers.
Mr. Mahadevappa also asked officials to advise farmers to reduce the use of potassium -based fertilizers, as its excessive use could reduce soil fertility.
Although the number of Covid-19 cases listed in the Mysurus district was smaller, the Minister emphasized the need for people to follow the instructions and take the necessary measures. People showing symptoms should undergo a test and treatment in the nearest medical facility, he said.
At the meeting were present by the deputy Commissioner Mysur G. Lakshmikant Reddy, Commissioner of the Municipal Police of Seema Latkar, district medical officer Kumaraswamy and other higher officials of the district administration.
