The Ramon Magsaysay Award for “girls’ education” is a historical moment for India, and on Sunday (August 31, 2025), the global reflector introduced to the movement driven by people that began with a single girl in a remote village in the country, said the founder of the non -profit organization Safeen Husain).
The Girls Education Foundation around the world, generally known as the “Educate Girls”, made history as the first Indian organization to acquire Ramon Magsaysay Award, statement of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF).
“Girls’ education” were named for the first prize of Asia and the highest honor for “her commitment to solve cultural stereotypical through education of girls and young women, liberating from the slavery of illiteracy and fulfilling them with skills, courage and agency to achieve their full human potential,” RMAF said.
Mrs. Husain, who is considering a milestone, said: “Being the first Indian non -profit organization received the Ramon Magsaysay Award award is a historical moment for girls ‘education and for the country. This recognition puts a global reflector on the Indian folk movement for girls’ education on traditions and caused the mind, ”.
The award is awarded by the volunteers of the Balie team, appreciate partners, passionate gender champions and supporters, and recognize millions of girls who have gained their right to education, said.
“When we try to reach 10 million students in the next decade and share this plan outside India, we carry a simple truth that when one girl is educated, she will take others with her, multiply changes across families, generations and nations,” said Mrs. Husain.
The Organization’s Ceo, Gayatri Nair Lobo, Said, ”at Educate Girls, We Believe that Education Is One of the Greatest Levers for Development. But Above All Possible Through Partnerships with the Government, Philanthropic Institutions, Corporations and Grassroots Communities, Working Together to Tackle Societal and Systemic Barriers and Promote Equitable and Accessible Education for Girls.
“We are a deeply grateful to the Indian government for the phenomenal initiative that allowed it. Congratulations to our fellow citizens Shaahina Ali and Fr. Flaviano Villanuev, whose work inspires us all,” she added.
Starting with Rajasthan, educational girls identified the most needed communities in terms of girls’ education, brought uninhabited or extracurricular girls to the classroom, and worked on their maintenance until they were able to obtain credentials for university education and employment.
“It started with 50 pilot village schools that achieved more than 30,000 villages across the most insufficiently operated India regions, including more than two million girls, with more than 90%,” the foundation said.
The organization is recognized as its obligation to address cultural stereotypes through the education of girls and young women, liberating them from the slavery of illiteracy and fulfilling them with skills, courage and agency to achieve their full human potential, the release said.
