The Madras High Court on Friday (April 10, 2026) said that no direction can be issued to the Election Commission of India (EC) to introduce an SMS confirmation system for confidential voters to cast their vote during the 2026 Assembly elections.
Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan said it was too late to issue such a direction as half of the election process had already been completed and only campaigning and polling on April 23 remained.
