Madhya Pradesh Cabinet faced the challenges of resignation in the Assembly from the opposition Congress over his controversial remarks about Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi as he stood up to answer the question in the house.
The house was shortly adjourned after the members of Congress created a hand in the hour and demanded the resignation of Mr. Shaha, who holds the portfolia of Bhopal Gas tragedy and rehabilitation, public assets and portfolio of tribal affairs in the BJP government.

As soon as the Minister of BJP stood up to answer the MLA Arif Masood Congress on the tragedy of the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984, the members of the opposition on the feet were and demanded the resignation or ejection of Mr. Shaha for disrespect for the female military officer.
They voted for the well of the house and screamed, Vijay Shah ‘Istif to (resignation), Vijay Shah Ko’ Barkhaast Karo ‘(throws it).
Narendra Tomar asked the MLA Congress to keep calm and sit down, but the members of the opposition ignored his advice and continued to protest.
The benches of the Ministry of Finance, including the ruling BJP members, also raised slogans against the opposition and stated that they did not respect the army.
When the accusation flew strongly and quickly between the treasury and the opposition benches, the speaker tried to keep order in the house. However, when the opposition members calmed down, Mr. Tomar postponed the house shortly in the middle of the deafening sloganeering.
On Monday (July 28, 2025), the Supreme Court pulled Mr. Shah for not issuing a public apology for his remarks against Colonel Qureshi and said he was testing the patience of the court. The bench of justice Surya Kant and Joylyia Bagchi said the behavior of the Minister challenges his intentions and bonafides.
The head of the lawyer K. Parmeshwar, who appeared for the Minister of BJP, said he had issued an apology that was online and will be included in the court record.
The bench asked the team of a special investigation team (SIT) established to probate the Minister’s statement to submit its report by August 13.
Mr. Shah came under fire after a widely spread video showed him that he allegedly made unwanted notes against Colonel Qureshi, who gained nationwide meaning together with another female officer, the commander of Singh’s wing, during media briefings about the “Sindoor Operation”, the Indian military reaction to the terrorist attack of Pahalgam.
Previously, the Madhya Pradesh High Court rebuked Mr. Shah for passing “shocks” and using the “tongue of the troughs” against Colonel Qureshi and ordered the police to file a company against hostility and hatred support.
After Mr. Shah caused a difficult conviction, he expressed regret and said that he respects the col. Qureshi more than his sister.
The best court on Monday (July 28, 2025) also questioned an apology issued by the Minister and stated that the word “apology” has meaning. The court refused to accept an apology and ordered the state government to create a network to explore the matter.
