Minister of School Education Madhu Bangarappa welcomed the decision of the Central Government to include a list of caste in the census.
Mr. Bangarappa said on Monday on Monday that the list of caste is required because the socio-economic and educational backwardness had a direct connection with the caste.

When Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, demanded a caste census, BJP leaders ridiculed him, but eventually they had to accept it, Mr. Bangarappa said.
