Madhapur Police of Cyberabad Commissionerate have registered a case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy for allegedly encroaching on nearly five acres of Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur.
A case was registered based on a complaint from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA). Police said a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
According to the complaint, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority had issued a primary full tank level notification for Durgam Cheruva in 2014, which had clearly demarcated the boundaries of the lake. Despite this, Mr. Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, along with another person identified as Venkat Reddy, entered the lake by filling it with earth and stones. The affected area was allegedly used as a commercial car park. HYDRAA recently removed illegal structures spanning nearly five acres from FTL Lake.
Further investigation is underway.
