Kannada actor Madenur Manu was arrested after a complaint of rape filed by 33-year-old co-artistem, who claimed to have attacked her under the “pretext of marriage”. The arrest comes just a day before the release of Manu’s latest film Kuladalli Keelyvudo, in which he plays a major role.
According to the police Manu, he left shortly after filing a complaint on Wednesday afternoon. He was later traced and taken into custody from his native village of Madenur in the Hassan district.
Manu, who has recognized his performance on the comedy Khiladigal Season 2, is also known for participating in several reality shows Kannada. He and the complainant previously cooperated on several such performances. According to police sources: “The complainant is the resident of the second phase of Nagarabhavi.”
In her complaint, the victim claimed that Manu had repeatedly raped her between November 2022 and May 2025 after promising to marry. She also accused him of subjected to mental and physical exploitation. “The woman also said she helped him financially,” the police said.
According to Indian Express, the woman realized that Manu was already married and had a child. The first alleged incident took place on November 29, 2022, when MANU raped at a comedy show at a hotel in Shivamogg. Manu is accused of repeatedly raped her in her home in Nagarabhav. When the woman became pregnant, he allegedly forced her to take the abortion pills. He is also accused of recording their private moments and threatens to release shots if they publish the matter. The complainant also accused him of physical assault.
Police AnnaPorneshwari Nagar registered the case against the actor based on charges of rape, “sexual intercourse by using deceptive means” and “causing abortion without the consent of a woman”.
