Former minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy’s personal assistant Muni Tukaram and his close aide Madhava Reddy were on Wednesday taken into custody by the Tirupati Crime Investigation Department (CID) police in connection with the Madanapalle file burning case.
The two were detained by officials led by Deputy Superintendent Vena Gopal when they reached a coffee shop near the Gadanki toll plaza on the Tirupati-Chittoor highway, accompanied by local leaders.
After serving a notice to them, they shifted the duo to Tirupati for questioning. It may be recalled that Madhava Reddy and Muni Tukaram were named as accused in the case related to the mysterious fire that engulfed the Madanapalle sub-collector’s office in July 2024 after the general elections in which nearly 2,440 important files were gutted.
It may also be recalled that after the incident, Muni Tukaram tried in vain to get anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court and later moved abroad for a short period of time.
