LV Prasad Eye Institute renamed WHO Collaborating Center by 2030

The World Health Organization (WHO) has re-designated the Hyderabad-based LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) as a WHO Collaborating Center for the Prevention of Blindness for the next four years, extending its designation to 2030.

LVPEI was first awarded in 2001 and has now completed 25 years as a WHO Collaborating Centre. It is among 11 eye institutions worldwide designated by the WHO Director-General to support the organization’s global programs in eye care and blindness prevention.

As a WHO Collaborating Centre, LVPEI will provide technical and operational support to the global health body in promoting universal health coverage through people-centred integrated eye care. The Institute will contribute its expertise in public health ophthalmology, epidemiology, and health systems to generate evidence for best practices, strengthen the eye care workforce, and develop clinical and public health guidelines.
