Stint Luciana Spalletti, when the Italian head coach ended at a sudden end after a humiliating defeat of the 3-0 national team in Norway in the World Cup qualifications. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed that Spalletti will resign after the Italian match against Moldova on Monday, which means a quick response to the worst start of the team in qualifying history.
A 66 -year -old man made this announcement himself during the press conference before the match and revealed that he was informed about the decision by President Figc Gabriele Gravin. While Spalletti insisted that he was not planning to stop, the loss of Norway sealed his fate.
“Last night we were very together with the President (Gabriele).
“I did not intend to give up. I would rather stay in place and continue to work. I will be there (Monday) in the evening against Moldova, then we will conclude a contract,” he added.
Spalletti took Italy in August 2023 and entered Robert Mancini’s sudden departure. The former boss of Napoli arrived with high expectations, fresh from the historical victory of Serie A. Italian performances under his leadership proved to be unpredictable. Azzurri was discarded from Euro 2024 in round 16 in Switzerland and won only one game during the tournament.
Recent results have only deepened the crisis. The team has now passed three World Cup qualifiers without scoring – the worst such a run in their history. The last blow came against Norway, where Italy was thoroughly exaggerated and went to the half -time, which was already three goals. This defeat let Italy face the task uphill to ensure automatic qualifications.
Although Italy showed signs of recovery in the league of nations-including a strong victory of 3-1 against France-Oneconzisity suffered their progress. Dramatic collapse against Germany in the Nations League quarterfinals at the beginning of this year outlined Friday’s debacle in Oslo. After failed to qualify for the last two world cups, Figc decided not to afford further repetitions – and Spalletti paid the price.
