
As the investigation into the $102 million Louvre heist progressed, police arrested four more people, including two women.
The development comes weeks after prosecutors revealed that motocross legend and bodybuilder Abdoulaye N was among the suspects in the $102 million heist at the world’s most famous and most visited art museum.
Prosecutor Laure Beccuau, whose office is leading the investigation, said two men and two women aged 31 to 40 and from the Paris region are in custody.
However, the identities and roles of the arrested suspects in the October 19 theft have not yet been revealed.
No trace of the stolen jewelry has yet been found.
Earlier, on October 29 and November 1, four more people were arrested and put under formal investigation.
How did the robbery happen?
The robbery happened within seven minutes. Thieves parked a lorry with a ladder under the Apollo museum gallery. They later broke a window and used angle grinders to cut into the glass display to steal the jewelry.
What was stolen from the Louvre museum?
Among the jewels that have disappeared is an emerald and diamond necklace that Napoleon I gave to his second wife. Thieves drop a crown studded with diamonds and emeralds that once belonged to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III.
